Argus 9424D and 9624 Spray Coat Solder Resist System
The Argus spray coating system was installed in 2000, which consists of the 9424D double-sided heated spray gun application module and the 9624 IR tack dry oven.
The conveyorised system passes the bare printed circuit boards through the 9424D spray coat chamber, where the heated spray guns positioned above and below provide a complete and even coverage of liquid solder resist ink over the entire panel. The complex spray gun system can be seen in the following picture, showing the lower gun pointing upwards to cover the bottom of the panels:
A large benefit in using the spray coat system is that it enables Stevenage Circuits to provide an even and consistent coverage of solder resist, even on fine line / HDI products, due to the ink being directly deposited in every possible space on the panel. There really is nowhere to hide from these powerful spray guns!
After the panels are completely coated, the conveyorised system then passes the panels through the 9624 IR tack dry oven. The ability of the oven to part-cure the solder resist ink in under 5 minutes greatly improves throughput, and because the 9424D and 9624 are part of the same conveyorised system, the process has no manual handling which in turn improves the final quality of the product.
